The PHMA requested the Collector to allow all the exporters to avail of the facility of "Stream" to all manufacturers and exporters instead of selecting 200 exporters from all over the country.
The Collector agreed to the proposal and forwarded the same to the Central Board of Revenue (CBR) for approval.
The PHMA expressed concern over the notices issued to some exporters for providing details of the payments made by them to their suppliers, which was required under Section 70 of the Sales Tax Act to be made through bank cheque after 180 days.
It said the condition of providing details of the payment under Section 70 should be done away with, because the supplier had already deposited the sales tax with the treasury.
The Collector informed the PHMA delegation about the new sales tax-free procedure for the exporters to buy tax-free inputs from the local market, and said the new procedure, now under approval, would eliminate the need for claiming refund by the exporters.
Earlier, a delegation of Pakistani Readymade Garments Manufacturers and Exporters Association (Prgmea), led by its Chairman Dawood Usman Jhakura, met the Collector of Enforcement, and suggested that the top exporters from each textile sector should be allowed to avail of the quick refund payment facility under the new system "Stream".
The Sales Tax Collector assured the delegation that he would convey the suggestion to the Member, Sales Tax, for approval.
It was decided at the meeting that the Prgmea would organise a seminar at a date to be decided later, to educate its members on the new refund payment system, and Sales Tax Member Shahid Ahmed would provide guidance to the exporters in the seminar.
